Richmond Baby Photographer - Purplelicious

My heart sang with joy when this little darling came back for her 6 month photos. Her newborn session was so calm and peaceful and she was pretty laid back this time, too. Looking positively delicious in purple, she gave me the most adorable expressions. It was hard to keep up, but I managed to get most of them! Here are some favourites.

BC Newborn and Baby Photographer - Brotherly Love

This family made the trek all the way from Vancouver Island to capture portraits of their latest addition together with his older brother. I worried my hands would be full as the boys were 6 weeks and 13 months old. However, these boys were an absolute dream to work with, so everything went off without a hitch. I knew getting them in a shot together would be a challenge so I was super excited when I came across my latest prop find. I absolutely adore the tenderness big brother had for his baby brother. I just know these two are going to be best buds growing up!

North Vancouver Newborn Photographer - Adored

This year is shaping up to be the year of siblings. So many of my tiny clients are becoming big brothers and big sisters this year and I am honoured to capture beautiful memories for these families.

Like her brother, this little princess was in a hurry to see the world and spent the first few weeks of her life in the NICU. And like her brother, she is absolutely gorgeous with the most delicate features.

Unlike her brother, though, she was not at all interested in sleeping, hahaha. He was one of the very first newborns I ever photographed and was so relaxed and content. Their mom jokingly said that had he put up such a fuss at his session I probably would not be doing what I do today. She might be right ;-) I do love a challenge, though, and when I get the images I hoped for, they're that much more rewarding! Thank you L Family for having such beautiful babies and letting me photograph them :-)

Vancouver Baby Photographer - Sigh, she's so big now!

I still remember booking the maternity session with her parents and the fantastic outdoor shots we got with tiny snowflakes falling down on them. Then came the newborn photos with their dainty little princess. I loved seeing them again for their Christmas Mini Session and now came time for her first birthday portraits. I didn't think it was possible, but she's even cuter now! Full of life and personality, this girl already knows that pearls are much better than flowers ;-) And check out those tippy-toes, I have a feeling pre-ballet lessons will be coming soon. Can't wait to see you guys again soon!

Vancouver Newborn Photographer - Sleepy Smiles

I had the pleasure of photographing this peaceful boy a few weeks ago and he was so delightful. And when at the end he gave me a gorgeous smile, it was icing on the cake. Such a great day spent with his lovely family. Thank you for trusting me with your baby's first portraits!

Vancouver Baby Photographer - All smiles

I swear, Vancouver has the most beautiful babies, and they all seem to find a way in front of my lens :-) This adorable boy is such a friendly little man! He has the most gorgeous eyes and a smile that is truly captivating. I was completely smitten and, as is usually the case, was sad to see him go at the end of the session.

Vancouver Newborn Photographer - Sweet Dreams

When this boy's mommy called me to book his newborn photos, she prepared me that he was a rather alert baby. So of course, with that in mind, I was ready and allowed extra time. He, in turn, proved us wrong. He slept the entire time, without so much as a peep, and woke up only to get some milk, before going back into a deep slumber ;-)

BTW, this little boy's daddy is one of my heroes.  He is a teacher and I just want to take a second to say thank you to all of the BC teachers working hard each day providing support, education and care to our children.

As I'm sure it is apparent by now, if you have followed my blog for some time, I absolutely adore working with babies and children, but no matter how much I love it, I won't deny that it is hard work.  Yet my job pales in comparison to the hard work teachers do!  As a mother of two girls in the school system, I can appreciate that it takes a special person to dedicate themselves to educating young minds and giving them a strong foundation so that they're able to tackle any challenges they might face in their adult lives.  It's not just about reading, math, science or social studies.  The problem solving skills acquired during school years can have a profound effect on a person's life, and I know from personal experience that teachers can literally shape an individual's path in life.

I won't lie and say that the recent job action by the BCTF has not inconvenienced me.  And I know I have it easier that most parents, since I can juggle my schedule around if need be, but I completely support our teachers in their quest to provide BC students with the attention they deserve.  As an ESL student myself, I owe so much to the teachers who saw the potential in me, despite the language barrier, and gave their personal time to offer me the extra support I needed so that I could keep up with the regular students in class.

I hope you will join me in supporting our teachers in their fight for our children's education.  You can read more about it here.

I apologize for the serious tone, so moving on, enjoy photos of this gorgeous little boy :-)

Vancouver Newborn Photographer - Tiny Blessings

I always get excited when I get to photograph twins. Sure, it is a lot of work. And yes, it does seem like there is just not enough time. But the results are always so rewarding! These two girls were truly a dream to photograph, and one of them holds the record for the tiniest baby I ever held. She was born at just over 3 and a half pounds and was just over 4 pounds at her session. Newborns amaze me with their strength and perseverance, and these little girls, are no exception. I absolutely adored spending time with this gorgeous family!
